Global (also known as Global Media & Entertainment)[2][3] is a British media company formed in 2007. It is the owner of the largest commercial radio company in Europe having expanded through a number of historical acquisitions, including Chrysalis Radio, GCap Media and GMG Radio. Global owns and operates seven core radio brands, all employing a national network strategy.

An anonymous interview candidate shared his experience with Global on Glassdoor in April 2020:

"I got the interview through a recruiter. First stage was a general chat with the hiring manager. Second stage was a presentation response to brief. Third stage was a chat with the head of the department. They were all super friendly and seemed keen. I was told I would know within a few days. From there on out I got radio silence. I called, text and emailed multiple times but I didn't ever heard back, neither did the agency. If someone has taken time out to attend three interviews the least they deserve is some kind of response or feedback. I was really keen to work for Global, however this experience has changed my mind completely."

"I worked at Global full-time for more than a year Cons: - Racial Biases both conscious and unconscious by management - Micromanaging! The micromanaging made my anxiety worse than it has ever been! - The Outdoor Partnerships department except managers were not allowed to work from home pre-covid, however other departments allowed this. - People and Culture lacks compassion and do not handle concerns and racial biases correctly. I raised concerns and was told by People and Culture "as far as we are aware, they have bee through racial bias trying". They did take my concerns seriously nor provided an compassion towards me. -Very MANAGER HEAVY! - If you need a day off or half day for a medical reason, you either have to book annual leave or make up your hours during the week! . I had CBT and was told I had to get to work earlier than I usually would to make up the time if i needed to leave early. -There is NO career progression. - Very low salary for the role and what you have to do. - Account management and negotiation to save the company money however no commission or bonus! - No company mobile, they expected us to use our personal mobile to contact landlords"

Hideous experience of trying to do the job to the best of your abilities and being knocked down at every turn. Dodgy deals being done...don't try and speak up about them or you'll be bullied even more."

"I worked at Global full-time for more than a year Cons: Some of the people that work at Global are aspiring presenters and producers and get into the company through the back door by applying for non-programming jobs that they don’t really want, and use the “I work in radio” tagline to impress their friends, family and pretty much anyone who will listen to them. If you’re a radio anorak or just want to get on-air, then don’t work at Global, you’re just being a hypocrite and personally it’s insensitive to those in various programming departments in the company who have lost their jobs. When you scratch beneath the surface the company is very disjointed, and is EXTREMELY toxic especially in teams outside of London. The blame culture is very much alive and it is the company’s biggest downfall where you are treated very badly and bullied by management and colleagues, and are continually put down on a daily basis and stripped of any confidence you may have. This is proven in the annual ‘Spotlight’ performance reviews which are basically opportunities for individuals to assassinate your character. This needs to stop and should be brought to the attention to the likes of Ashley and Stephen and others at the top at the company, who should know why people are leaving their company on their own choice."

"I worked at Global part-time for less than a year Cons: I found the actual working environment to be disjointed and backstabbing. It doesn't seem to be a joined up environment and there I saw senior staff being sidelined without a care. Also the work ethic was poor, a lot of time was spent doing nothing , chatting or going to the cafe for breakfast - I was part of a very unproductive team."

"I worked at Global full-time Cons: The place tries to be 'non corporate' - 'corporate' is referred to as 'the C word' that you don't use. However it is totally corporate and masking it as fun and relaxed is untrue. I found the mindset to be very sneaky and there was a lack of communication between levels of management. I found it to be a bit of a boys club as well with a lot of swearing and inappropriate chat. They also do not pay enough compared to competitors and there does not seem to be much opportunity to progress up the ladder. Expected to stay late as well quite a lot, however you'd never be able to leave early despite working overtime constantly."

"...then this is the place for you. Management is self-serving and cruel, expecting off-the-clock work for hourly employees as indicated with subtle comments like "If you really were dedicated to the team, then you'd be willing to make that sacrifice." The "benefits" package is minimal...an insult really. You will be treated like a number at best, then tossed into the trash heap and potentially maligned for standing up for yourself. Cons: Everything"

"Everything seems fine until you complete training and they throw you on calls. No direction, no mock calls beforehand, just templates and videos they give you to figure it out yourself. HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT!!! They don’t care about anything but making sure you get an ungodly amount of calls in a day. I don’t see this company lasting. Cons: Everything else"

"Valor Global is an agency that hires within for 3rd party campaigns. I was working as a Hulu Advocate. The management was non-existent. Never had any SBS training w/ manager. Very happy w/ firing people. Cons: just about everything"

"I've been with this company 1 year today, and in the entirety of my time here I've gone through 8 managers, and 3 operations managers. For the first 4 months my schedule constantly changed, making working harder while managing my children's lifes. After 6 months no raise was offered and no raise was given after bringing it up. New employees are hired on at a higher pay then longtime employees."

"Management, HR and Owners have no since of leadership, racist, narcissistic owners and officers look at employees as numbers. Pay is very low. It's an company ran like an chop shop."

"So, I was looking to work on a different campaign that was more flexible, instead they have me on one that's so new that there's no opportunity for overtime. While other campaigns can spend time streaming video or doing homework, etc, I cannot due to the sensitive nature of my work, and that wasn't disclosed to me."

"This company makes enough money to pay everyone equally but instead they'd rather have slave labor pay you as less possible and wants the most work out of you as if they're paying you what you're supposed to get paid they only do that to select contracts. How is it that people go to work every day 40 hours a week and still can't afford to live working for this company other contracts get paid top dollar"

CSR - Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) says

"BED BUGS!! BED BUGS!!! BED BUGS! There has been bed bugs since November 2018 they sent an email July 2019!!!!! They never said anything beforehand and lied constantly when multiple employees asked if there were bed bugs. Then threaten your job for talking about the infestation in the claim you’re creating a hostile environment. They held open interviews with an active bed bug infestation they refuse to bomb the place but continue to spray rubbing alcohol"

"Infested with bed bugs. They threaten to fire people for speaking about the bugs in the office. Says it may cause an uproar with other employees. Didn't send out a notice of the problem until about a month after it was reported. I wonder how many people got them at home because of this."

Call Center Representative (Former Employee) says

"They made a lot of promises they couldn't keep like bringing your pets to work, making a dog daycare and dog park. However, they were always threatening that the project would be dropped if we didn't have enough people in the phones but there were times it was 10 to 25 minutes in between calls. And they just told everyone the office has bed bugs bugs. They expect us to continue working and said if we get them at home they'll give us a coupon for 20% off bug sprays services in the office"

"Upper management is horrible. All they care about is customer surveys not employees. They don’t deserve to have the Team Managers that work under them. They are far to talented to work for a careless company like this one. Once your score drops they fire you, even though you did everything you were supposed to do for the customer. And recruiting lies about helping you get your desired shift . Cons: Monitored breaks, high turn over rate"

"They're saying they paid me for a day on a previous check that they DIDN'T. I've already filled out the form to report them to the labor board! Cons: They steal your money"

"25 calls a day with cranky customers who have buffering issues due to thier Internet connection. Pay is low compared to competition in area. Schedules are picked for you.Team environment with no assigned seats. Thier internet TV campaign is a revolving door the reason is its a dead end job..."

"Your job is always on the line. Customer surveys are what determines your future at this company. Favoritism depends on your growth. Within 3 months 80 people were fired. Not too concerned with individual goals or growth within the company. Good temporary job until you find what makes you happy."

"Don't waste your time with this company. The management is horrible and can't be found most of the time. There's often no one around to answer questions. The turnover rate is the worst I've ever seen."

"This company is so full of lies that I don't even know where to start. They charm you during the interview process and first day of training but afterwards it just becomes terrible. I was so underprepared when I finally got on the phones that I felt overwhelmed. They tell you that the turn over rate is super low which is such a lie, there are so many cliques it feels like high school, and the trainer was actually terrible."

"This was the worst place I have ever worked for and I thought walmart was bad. Management was awful the training was a joke no actual computer time before you're thrown on the phones with no idea of what you're doing. They have a great contract and work with the Department of revenue. Still have yet to receive my last check. They fire people during training for messing one thing up on the call. No review just fired. Cons: Management"

Recruiter (Former Employee) says

"This company will make you work to the bone and then reward you by firing you due to "poor performance" even though the whole time you received positive feedback from your manager. Once the busy hiring season was over, I mean the very next day after a big start date, the recruiting team was all fired supposedly for poor performance. I did not have one piece of feedback that I was performing poorly. All I received was positive feedback on my performance, but just because one of the VP's was upset she fired the whole team, instead of the person who was poorly managing the team. I would stay away because they will make a lot of false promises and then fire you if you try to help them to improve their company. They will say they "want to start fresh." They will not change their ways so unless you are completely willing to adapt to their unethical practices you will be fired out of the blue with no warning. Don't trust anything they say."
